About us.

East Midlands Vocational Academy (EMVA) is an innovative organisation that was launched in 2011 with the aim of providing quality educational courses for young people in the Nottinghamshire area who need something different to the classical school environment.

Recognising that our clientèle have individual needs, abilities and aspirations means that our approach and our courses have to be adaptable, user friendly and inspirational. It is this approach that has made the centre an increasing success with students and schools alike.

Based in Mansfield town centre, EMVA offers courses and qualifications in GCSE English Language & Maths as well as ASDAN qualifications which include Short courses in Maths, English, Uniformed services, PSHE and Hair and Beauty. 

The qualifications that students can acquire are only part of the story. At EMVA we place great importance on confidence building and social inclusion. 

Working in small groups with a high staff to student ratio means that relationships can be built and maintained that makes the students feel comfortable and confident about their environment and their studies.

We work closely with schools and parents/carers to make sure that an holistic approach is in place that fosters good relationships and increased achievement.

We are very proud of the record that we have to date and in particular the improvement in attendance that we regularly see in students that have been disillusioned and somewhat on the edge of society in the past.

Our centre boasts a hair and beauty salon so that students can study in a realistic work environment, helping them to increase in confidence and to prepare them for the world of work.
